Tottenham forward Son Heung-min has said the return of manager Antonio Conte will give Spurs an ‘amazing boost’ against AC Milan tonight.
The Lowdown: Conte surgery…
The Italian was forced to step away from Spurs dugout in recent weeks, leading to assistant coach Cristian Stellini stepping in as he recovered from gallbladder surgery.
Tottenham actually went on a mini-winning run during Stellini’s stint but two losses in their last two games has seemingly brought them right back down to Earth.
Indeed, the north Londoners arguably missed Conte’s presence during their FA Cup exit to Sheffield United, followed closely by a 1-0 Premier League defeat at Wolves.
The Latest: Son praises Conte return…
Ahead of their crunch Champions League clash against Milan this evening, Son has raved over the return of Conte, saying it will be give Spurs an ‘amazing boost’.
He explained (via football.london):
“It is important. I am glad to have him sitting next to me. He is back and bringing good energy for the team. When he was not here the staff did a good job but obviously when the boss is not here it is different. Yesterday we could feel the energy, and his passion, again. With him on the touchline the players will be more comfortable and he will give us an amazing boost and an amazing energy.”

The Verdict: Could be big…
Although noises continue to surround the 53-year-old’s future, with his current Spurs deal set to expire at the end of 2022/2023, the presence of Conte should indeed give them a lift.
The Lilywhites have had to cope without his in-game management recently and a match this pivotal will almost certainly require his attendance.
Tottenham’s return leg against the Rossoneri in north London represents one last chance to turn the tie around and push for silverware.
Europe is now Spurs’ sole hope of winning a trophy this campaign and Conte will be determined to get the very best out of his side.
