According to Football Insider, Leeds have set their sights on Che Adams ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
What’s the word?
Leeds have officially registered their interest in the Southampton forward after Marcelo Bielsa gave the green light for the club to make a possible move, per Football Insider.
A source has told the outlet that the Whites are unsure over whether Eddie Nketiah will be recalled by his parent club Arsenal but it is claimed Adams could act as a direct and dynamic replacement.
The player is available on loan but Nottingham Forest are apparently at the front of the queue for the ex-Birmingham man.
Adams cost the Saints £15m only last summer but his time on the south coast simply hasn’t worked out.
Forget Brewster
It is thought that Adams is seen as a more realistic option than Rhian Brewster in January and it would be a very wise choice if this was the direction Leeds went down.
Of course, it depends on whether Nketiah goes back to north London but there can’t be many better options out there for Leeds than a player who scored 22 times last term in the Championship.
He hasn’t been cut out for the Premier League, being reduced to minimal roles from the bench after failing to score. However, at the age of just 23, he’s already proven himself capable at the level Leeds require.

Brewster, on the other hand, has not shown what he can do at senior level at all. He’s only played two first-team matches in his entire career despite boasting a healthy record at youth level.
He was the Golden Boot winner during England’s U17 World Cup triumph but he’s been stuck behind flourishing stars like Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah at Liverpool.
What Leeds need as the season progresses is proven players. Nketiah has shown he isn’t completely up to the task, barely starting from the off, so Leeds must think again if they reckon strikers of this ilk can help fire them to promotion.
Bielsa would be smart to land Adams instead of Brewster in January.
