Former Manchester United defender and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has named Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino as his Premier League Manager of the Year.
Despite the fact that Chelsea look on course to win the title after finishing in 10th position last season, the 42-year-old believes that the Argentine’s job at White Hart Lane has been even more impressive.
Spurs came so close to challenging Leicester City for the trophy last term, but they faded in the closing stages of the campaign – eventually finishing third behind arch-rivals Arsenal.
Pochettino had to bring his team back from that disappointment, and they have certainly shown that they can be contenders on a yearly basis following some impressive performances this season.
The latest of those came against Watford at White Hart Lane on Saturday as they thrashed the Hornets 4-0, to close the gap on leaders Chelsea to four points for a couple of hours at least.
Wherever Spurs finish this season, Neville believes their boss is still the standout name considering the resources he is working with compared to some of the rivals clubs at the top of the Premier League.
Neville told Sky Sports: “I love Tottenham, they’re probably my favourite team in the league to watch.
“Pochettino has built a team, brought players through and the budget is nowhere near the other clubs. For me he’s doing an amazing job.”
Tottenham will look to put the pressure on Chelsea again when they host Bournemouth at White Hart Lane on Saturday, prior to the Blues’ trip to Manchester United on Sunday.
