Everton want to sign Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, per Football Insider.
What’s the word?
The Toffees are said to be keeping close tabs on the forward ahead of a prospective move in a coming transfer window.
Morelos has been prolific for Rangers, scoring 26 goals in 32 outings in all competitions for the Scottish giants this season.
Did he play for Everton? Simple question but a lot tougher than you think…
In total, he has netted 74 goals in 123 outings for the club, with Rangers now only two points behind league leaders Celtic.
Everton are said to be scouting him extensively prior to the summer, with Morelos valued at £6.75m by Transfermarkt.
A phenomenal forward
Morelos would be a major improvement for Everton.
Right now, they have Cenk Tosun, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Moise Kean and Oumar Niasse as their out-and-out strikers, along with Richarlison, who is often deployed on the wing.
Between them, this season, they have scored just 12 league goals – Kean and Niasse are yet to get on the scoresheet.
That’s less than half of Morelos’ total and, while he is playing in a weaker league in Scotland, he would add some electricity to Everton’s front line.
Not only is he an excellent, instinctive finisher but he is also a terrier out of possession, as evidenced by his six yellow cards this season.
Regardless of their next permanent manager is, there is no denying he’d add a valuable option at Goodison Park.
He would improve the Toffees’ front line in a big way and they should do all they can to bring him to Merseyside.
Meanwhile, Everton fans have reacted to an injury update on Theo Walcott.
