Bayern's clash at Feyenoord got underway at 8pm (GMT) on Wednesday night but soon after the match begun, the contest was halted. Harry Kane and his fellow players were unable to see the pitch clearly before the game resumed after a lengthy pause. But what caused it?

Fans at De Kuip let off pyrotechnics before the game got underway. But after they finished, smoke billowed around the ground, obscuring players' visibility. It took a good seven minutes before the issue, quite literally, blew away.

Before this Champions League game began, Bayern had 12 points from six matches and Feyenoord had 10 from as many games. Both teams have outside chances of reaching the last 16 of the competition without having to go through the play-offs.
