Journalist Charles Watts has given a positive update on Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus as he continues his recovery from injury.
What’s the word?
Jesus picked up a long-term injury during the World Cup and has been absent since, with Eddie Nketiah filling the void up front for Arsenal.
The Brazilian striker has quickly become a crucial player with some impressive performances in the first half of the season, but was goalless in his last 10 games before the World Cup.
He looks set to return to action within the next month or so and recently returned to London Colney to begin light outdoor training.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Watts outlined the next steps for his recovery.
He said: “He’s come back to London Colney, he arrived, at my understanding, on Tuesday, so he’s been here for a couple of days now, and this is the point where he’s really stepping up his recovery.
“He’s going to be working alongside the medical team now, in a carefully mapped-out routine to try to get him back out on the pitch.
“I don’t think he’s imminently expected to return, by any means, but this is still good news for Arsenal, that at the moment, everything’s on track in terms of his recovery.
“They’d been working towards getting him back at some point next month and that is still on track.”
Return could boost title challenge
Arsenal have been impressive all season as they reached the top of the league without faltering, although they picked up their first league defeat since September as they were beaten by Everton last weekend.
Having Jesus back in the squad, even on the bench, could provide a huge difference in tough games like the one at Goodison Park, and his return could also give the rest of the squad a big morale boost.
If Arsenal are to get over the line and secure their first title in 19 years, Jesus will have played a big part in this success, so having him back well in time for the run-in will be music to the ears of the Gunners fanbase.
